How do you get tree sap out of clothes (denim)? My daughter got tree sap on her bluejeans (she sat in it).?

Just regular detergent did not work. I think acetone may work, but could also damage the material. How about alcohol, paint thinner, Gojo? Any suggestions? Thanks.
